iPhone 18 Pro debuts conversational Siri, but older iPhones miss out
Apple's long-awaited AI overhaul of Siri launches with iOS 27, featuring deeper app integration, camera awareness, and writing tools, but eligibility is limited to newer iPhones like the 15 Pro and later. The revamped assistant uses Apple Intelligence with Google Gemini models, enabling natural-language queries, on-screen understanding, and image generation. It also extends to Apple Watch Series 12 with Audio Intelligence, offering Live Rewind transcripts and sound alerts, while AirPods 5 gain Live Translation. Siri AI requires iPhone 15 Pro or newer, with iPhone 17 models using a more powerful on-device model. Initial rollout is English-only, excluding the EU and China, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish following in October.
