Apple releases iOS 27 release candidate ahead of public launch

Apple has released the first iOS 27 release candidate, marking the final testing phase before the public launch of its next major iPhone software update. Siri AI is the headline feature. The release candidate is the version Apple intends to ship publicly if no issues are found, and developers can download it via Settings > General > Software Update. iOS 27 introduces a revamped Siri with conversational responses, on-screen awareness, and a dedicated Siri app, plus AI features across Photos, Safari, and Mail. The update also adds customization options like a transparency slider, Photos keywords and star ratings, FaceTime Dual Capture, custom AirPods EQ, and performance improvements for app launches and connectivity. Apple may release additional RC builds before the final rollout.
