Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 add health sensors and AI features

Apple unveiled the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 at its fall keynote, introducing new health sensors and advanced AI features. Pre-orders are open now, with deliveries expected September 18. The new watches feature a redesigned rear sensor with a larger electrode for more precise electrocardiogram readings. Heart rate tracking now occurs every five seconds by default, up from every five minutes. The Series 12 also adds heart rate variability measurement for a new "Readiness" index. The Health app was overhauled with Apple Intelligence analysis and recommendations. Microphones enable sound recognition alerts, a 15-second audio rewind, and "Siri Recap" for automatic notes, though this feature requires Siri AI, unavailable in Europe. Pricing starts at 449 euros for the Series 12 and 899 euros for the Ultra 4, with titanium and ceramic options available. The devices feature a new Apple S11 processor but retain the same design as predecessors.
