Qatar's PM visits Tehran to revive US-Iran talks
Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani will visit Tehran on Thursday to discuss de-escalating tensions and reviving US-Iran dialogue, as the US-Israel conflict with Iran nears its sixth month without diplomatic progress. Qatar's Foreign Ministry confirmed the visit, stating Sheikh Mohammed will meet Iranian officials to create conditions conducive to dialogue. Qatar previously mediated a June memorandum that paused hostilities, but it collapsed in Julythe deal. Iran confirmed discussions will cover mediation efforts and regional developments. US President Donald Trump said he is in "no hurry" to resume talks, favoring economic and military pressure. Iran condemned new sanctions as "economic terrorism," while disputes over the Strait of Hormuz persist, with oil flows dropping to 5 million barrels daily from a pre-war 20 million.
