Qatar PM to visit Tehran for de-escalation talks on US-Iran conflict
Qatar's Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani will visit Tehran Thursday to discuss de-escalation with Iranian officials amid the ongoing US-Iran conflict, Qatar's Foreign Ministry announced. The visit aims to create conditions for dialogue and address freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, seeking a return to the status quo before February 28. Qatar maintains that diplomacy is the best means of resolving differences and promoting regional stability. The diplomatic push follows Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir's recent Tehran visit, reportedly delivering a US proposal offering sanctions relief in exchange for Iran reopening the Strait. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has indicated Washington currently plans no fresh strikes, instead pursuing naval blockades and economic pressure.
