State Department orders diplomats to replace 'artificial intelligence' with 'super intelligence'

The State Department has ordered diplomats in its international organizations bureau to replace the term "artificial intelligence" with "super intelligence" in all communications, following President Donald Trump's attempt to rebrand the technology. The directive was issued via email on Tuesday. The email, sent by Deputy Assistant Secretary Michael Drager, instructed staff to use "SI" in all remarks, positions, and press elements moving forward. The order came after Trump told the U.N. General Assembly that "artificial" makes intelligence sound "fake," and that U.S. government documents would adopt the new terminology. The bureau oversees U.S. missions to U.N. and multilateral agencies, and U.S. representatives used the SI term at a U.N. Security Council meeting on Wednesday. Trump has rejected calls for greater government oversight of AI development, emphasizing the need to maintain an edge over China.
