AI CEOs warn UN Security Council of humanity-level risks

ua.korrespondent.net (Ukrainian) —

The CEOs of Anthropic and OpenAI warned the UN Security Council on September 23 about the risks artificial intelligence poses to humanity, urging international cooperation to address the threat. Speaking at a session convened by France during the UN General Assembly, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei stressed that no single leader, company, or country can manage AI alone. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman emphasized that key decisions must be shaped through democratic processes, not just by San Francisco labs. Canadian scientist Yoshua Bengio, an AI pioneer, called the threat "real and imminent," noting it crosses borders and cannot be contained by any single nation. This position contrasts with US President Donald Trump's stance, who rejected globalist AI control schemes at the UN.
