Iran proposes 7-day plan to reopen Strait of Hormuz and start nuclear talks

Iran has proposed a seven-day plan to end fighting with the United States, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and start nuclear negotiations, according to Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi at the UN General Assembly. The proposal, based on the June Islamabad Memorandum, would end hostilities, release $12 billion in frozen Iranian assets, waive oil sanctions, and lift the blockade, with the strait reopening on day seven. Araghchi met US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in New York, with more talks possible. The US called discussions constructive but said it would not rush into a deal.
