Iran Presents US with 7-Day Plan to Reopen Strait of Hormuz

Iran has presented the United States with a seven-day plan to reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz, with Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stating the choice now rests with Washington. The proposal, delivered via mediators, closely mirrors a June memorandum of understanding but with an accelerated timetable, and reportedly includes releasing at least $12 billion in frozen Iranian assets, lifting oil sanctions, and ending the US naval blockade. Araqchi said the strait could reopen on the seventh day if conditions are met. The earlier June deal, which had a 60-day interim period, collapsed after Iran resumed attacks on shipping. President Masoud Pezeshkian also expressed support for reviving the agreement, welcoming China's backing for its restoration.
