Iran proposes seven-day roadmap to end US conflict

Iran has proposed a seven-day roadmap to end its conflict with the US, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced Thursday in New York, aiming to implement a failed June ceasefire deal and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The plan, passed to Washington via mediators, requires the US to halt hostilities across all fronts, including Gaza and Lebanon, release frozen Iranian assets of at least $12bn, waive oil sanctions, and lift its naval blockade within seven days. The strait would reopen on the final day, with nuclear talks starting immediately. The proposal mirrors the June Memorandum of Understanding, which collapsed in July amid disputes over shipping control and mutual accusations of violations. Analysts say diplomatic progress remains limited, with no major movement expected before US mid-term elections in November.
