Iran proposes reopening Strait of Hormuz within seven days if US meets conditions

Iran has submitted a proposal to the United States to end their war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days, its foreign minister told media outlets in New York. The proposal includes specific conditions for a truce and talks. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated the strait would open within seven days if conditions are met, including a seven-day cessation of hostilities across the Middle East, release of at least $12 billion in frozen Iranian assets, lifting of oil sanctions, and ending the US naval blockade. He said China supports the plan. The proposal follows a June memorandum of understanding that collapsed after Iran fired on commercial ships in Hormuz. Iran requires ships to obtain authorization for passage, and the US has sporadically bombed Iranian coastal areas in retaliation. Araghchi is awaiting a US response.
