Iran ready to sign war-ending deal before U.S. elections, Pezeshkian says

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tehran is ready to sign a war-ending agreement before the U.S. midterm elections in November, according to NBC News. Pezeshkian told reporters at the UN General Assembly that he wants Americans to return to a memorandum of understanding on ending the conflict and opening the Strait of Hormuz before the vote. White House press secretary Anna Kelly responded by citing Iranian killings of Americans and attacks in the region. The comments came two days after President Donald Trump said at the UN that Iran would wait for election results before agreeing to a deal. Trump also said the U.S. would not allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons and called for economic isolation of Tehran.
