Iran sends US plan to end hostilities and reopen Strait of Hormuz in 7 days

Iran has transmitted a plan to the United States via intermediaries proposing a ceasefire, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and subsequent nuclear talks, according to Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi at the UN General Assembly. The proposal, announced Friday, mirrors a June memorandum of understanding that was not honored. It stipulates that within seven days, all hostilities would cease, including in Lebanon, while the US would unfreeze $12 billion in Iranian assets, waive oil sanctions, and lift the naval blockade. On the seventh day, the Strait of Hormuz would become navigable again, after which negotiations on Iran's nuclear program could resume. Araghchi stated the plan was delivered through intermediaries, with conditions attached for its implementation.
