US Can End Iran War Anytime, President Says

Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian said the United States can end the war with Iran at any moment, stating Tehran never started the conflict but will respond with force if fighting continues. Speaking to Fox News on Thursday in New York during the UN General Assembly, Pezeshkian said he wants to build on the June memorandum of agreement between Washington and Tehran, which collapsed in early July. Since then, attacks have occurred around the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran's military has blocked. The June memorandum included a permanent halt to hostilities, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a $300 billion reconstruction fund for Iran, and lifting US sanctions if Iran refrains from developing nuclear weapons. Chinese President Xi Jinping also suggested Thursday that the memorandum should form the basis for peace.
