Trump says Iran behind Flydubai attack, investigators unconvinced
President Donald Trump said he personally believes Iran was responsible for the foiled Sept. 30 attack on a Flydubai flight, despite investigators not confirming any link to Iran. The UAE is leading an international investigation into the incident, in which co-pilot Smit Machchhar stabbed pilot Smit Machchhar in an apparent attempt to crash the plane carrying 170 passengers from Dubai to Tel Aviv. Vice President JD Vance said U.S. intelligence had not verified Iranian involvement, and U.S. officials report early indications suggest the suspect acted alone. Israeli officials identified the suspect as Omani, and Reuters reported he planned to crash the plane into Ben-Gurion airport. Trump previously warned Iran would be "hit very hard" if found responsible, amid the ongoing U.S.-Iran war that began with U.S. strikes over seven months ago.
