Flydubai copilot faces death penalty after passengers stop Ben-Gurion Airport crash plot
A Flydubai copilot is accused of planning to crash a plane into Israel's Ben-Gurion Airport, an attack thwarted by passengers who overpowered him after he assaulted the captain. He now faces the death penalty. The suspect, Hamam al-Hammami from Oman, allegedly confessed to UAE interrogators that he targeted the airline to fly to Tel Aviv. He attacked the captain with an axe, then attempted to dive the aircraft before passengers stormed the cockpit and subdued him. Israeli media reported the timeline, noting off-duty pilots took control and sent emergency codes. The plane landed safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Israel has requested UAE investigators also question the flight attendants.
