Flydubai co-pilot allegedly tried to crash plane into Ben Gurion Airport
The co-pilot of a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv allegedly intended to crash the aircraft into Israel's Ben Gurion Airport, according to US media reports citing officials. The incident is being investigated as a suspected terror attack. The attack occurred last Wednesday when the co-pilot reportedly used a rescue axe against the pilot, who despite severe injuries opened the cockpit door, allowing passengers to subdue the attacker. A second crew member landed the plane in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. The suspect, an Omani national, was previously fired from an Omani airline over security concerns and alleged radical views. US Vice President JD Vance said Iran's involvement is being investigated but nothing conclusive has been found, while President Donald Trump stated he personally believes Iran is responsible. Investigations remain in early stages, with the UAE keeping Israel informed.
