Flydubai pilot confesses to plotting Tel Aviv airport crash

nur.kz (Russian) —

Israeli media reported that a Flydubai pilot confessed to planning to crash his plane into a terminal at Tel Aviv's Ben-Gurion Airport, according to suspect testimony cited by NUR.KZ and RBC. The detained co-pilot, Hamam Al-Hammami, allegedly said he chose Flydubai specifically because it flies to Tel Aviv and planned the attack before being hired. The plot was reportedly foiled when an injured Indian pilot forced open the cockpit door. The incident occurred on September 30 when the Boeing 737 sent a hijack code over Saudi Arabia, prompting Israeli fighter jets to scramble. Flydubai has suspended Israel flights, and both Israel and the UAE have called it an attempted terror attack.
