Flydubai co-pilot planned to crash plane into Tel Aviv airport terminal
A Flydubai co-pilot confessed during interrogation that he planned to crash the Boeing into a terminal at Ben-Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, according to Israeli journalist Amit Segal on October 4. The detained pilot said he intended to perform a normal landing approach and then, in the final seconds when interception would be impossible, veer the aircraft into the terminal building. He attacked the other pilot only over Jordan, near Israel, to execute this plan. The attack was foiled when the wounded Indian pilot opened the cockpit door at all costs. On September 30, the flight from the UAE to Israel made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia after a knife fight between pilots, with two off-duty pilots, a Ukrainian and a Russian, safely landing the plane.
