FlyDubai co-pilot planned to crash plane into Ben-Gurion airport
The co-pilot of FlyDubai flight FZ1073 to Israel planned to crash the plane into Tel Aviv's Ben-Gurion airport, according to US and Israeli media citing investigation sources. The Omani national, identified as Hamam Al-Hammami, likely acted alone after attacking the captain, intending to follow normal approach procedures before crashing the aircraft with over 180 passengers aboard. He had reportedly prepared for months and previously traveled to Israel to gather information. Israeli media report he had considered attacking an earlier Tel Aviv-bound flight this year but abandoned the plan. Israel has requested the UAE expand interrogations of the crew, while UAE prosecutors confirmed the attack attempt, with security services from four regional countries investigating.
