Netanyahu orders security review of foreign airlines after Flydubai incident

nv.ua (Ukrainian) —

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered a security review of foreign airlines operating flights to the country following an incident aboard a Flydubai aircraft. The review, to be conducted by an inspector appointed by National Security Council head Shmuel Ben-Ezri, covers all safety aspects of foreign carriers. It follows a September 30 incident on a Dubai-to-Tel Aviv flight carrying 174 passengers, including 27 children. The Boeing 737 issued a hijack signal over Saudi Arabia and made an emergency landing in Tabuk. Israeli officials said the Omani co-pilot allegedly tried to seize control and crash the plane, but two off-duty pilots, reportedly Ukrainian and Russian nationals, subdued him and landed safely.
