Passengers overpower copilot after attack on Flydubai flight to Tel Aviv
A copilot on a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv allegedly attacked his colleague, apparently motivated by hatred of Israelis, and was overpowered by passengers just before the aircraft could crash. The plane landed safely in Saudi Arabia thanks to two off-duty pilots who were rushed into the cockpit. An eyewitness, an Israeli businessman named Tal, told the Jerusalem Post that the cockpit was temporarily empty as the plane lost altitude rapidly. He said he had to physically shake the two pilots, who were seated nearby, to get them to take control after they were frozen in shock. The injured primary pilot had managed to open the cockpit door despite severe wounds. The Israeli government suspects a jihadist terror attack, though the attacker's motive remains unconfirmed. Tal said three other Israelis subdued the assailant, who was bound with charging cables, while a dentist treated the wounded pilot. The passengers then placed Israelis at key positions to secure the flight until landing.
