Trump calls midterms 'crooked', demands Alaska votes go to Republican candidate
President Donald Trump called the US midterm elections "crooked" on Thursday and demanded that remaining Alaska votes be awarded to the Republican incumbent, despite previously accepting the results. Democrats secured control of both congressional chambers, with at least 54 Senate seats and a House majority exceeding 250 seats. Trump's outburst followed a Democratic socialist's win in the Los Angeles mayoral race and came as Mississippi's Senate race tightened unexpectedly. In Alaska, Democrat Mary Peltola led with 48.2 percent of the vote. Trump posted that votes for two minor candidates should be given to Republican Dan Sullivan. Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer warned Republicans face worse consequences in 2028 if Trump vetoes legislation.
