Poland's opposition files no-confidence motion to oust Tusk's government
Poland's conservative opposition filed a motion of no confidence on Saturday to oust Prime Minister Donald Tusk's government, proposing a provisional administration amid an escalating constitutional crisis. Former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced the motion on X, proposing a technical government led by former Parliament Speaker Marek Jurek until new elections. The move follows a dispute over the Constitutional Tribunal, which President Karol Nawrocki called a "violation of the constitutional order." Nawrocki cut short a Senegal visit and convened urgent consultations with parliamentary parties. The crisis began when judge Anna Korwin-Piotrowska suspended Tribunal head Bogdan Swieczkowski, a move rejected by him and the PiS opposition. Tusk's government says it is restoring rule of law after PiS's eight-year tenure.
