Poland's Acting Tribunal Head Orders Judges to Work Outside Courthouse
Poland's acting head of the Constitutional Tribunal, Anna Korwin-Piotrowska, ordered judges to work outside the courthouse, citing a risk of public order violations. Most staff were exempted from reporting to work. The order suspends duties at the headquarters, limits the Tribunal's Chancellery and Legal Services Bureau, and halts the reception desk, directing correspondence via postal operator. Disputed Tribunal head Bogdan Święczkowski called the order legally void and declared four days off for staff. The move follows Friday's announcement of Święczkowski's suspension, which he contests, claiming the court's website was seized. An opposition protest near the building occurred overnight, while President Karol Nawrocki cited a threat to internal security.
