Poland's acting tribunal head orders judges to work outside court

pravda.com.ua (Ukrainian) —

The acting head of Poland's Constitutional Tribunal, Anna Korwin-Piotrowska, has ordered judges to work outside the court building and exempted most staff from reporting to work, citing a risk of public order disturbances. The order suspends duties at the tribunal's headquarters, limits the chancellery and legal bureau's activities, and halts the reception office, directing correspondence to be sent via postal operator. The move follows the suspension of tribunal head Bogdan Święczkowski, who dismissed the order as legally invalid. Protesters, including opposition leader Jarosław Kaczyński, broke through gates near the court overnight, while President Karol Nawrocki cited a threat to internal security and called urgent consultations. Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski defended police actions as enabling legally elected judges to resume work.
