Chaos Erupts Outside Poland's Constitutional Tribunal as Political Crisis Deepens
Chaos erupted outside Poland's Constitutional Tribunal on Saturday, with a Polsat News journalist attempting to quiet the crowd amid shouting on air. The unrest follows a dispute involving President Karol Nawrocki and judges, escalating into a major political crisis. Prime Minister Donald Tusk delivered an evening address, stating that even the president cannot enter the tribunal's premises, emphasizing that "the rule of law does not see party colors." The Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights criticized the clashes, calling for a "constitutional reset" to resolve the impasse. The crisis deepened as Poland's ambassador to China resigned in protest, and politician Sławomir Mentzen warned of a "coup attempt," urging the president to convene the National Security Council. Tribunal head Bogdan Święczkowski was blocked from entering the building by police.
