Iran and Qatar discuss Strait of Hormuz as hopes grow for US-Iran talks

The talks covered a proposed temporary shipping corridor through the strait and a joint project to clear mines, with both sides reviewing efforts to reduce escalation and create conditions for dialogue. Iranian officials insisted Washington must first meet Tehran's demands, including lifting the naval blockade and unfreezing assets. The visit follows intense diplomacy involving Oman and Pakistan, which helped broker a collapsed April ceasefire. While mediators see room for negotiation, no agreement exists yet, and US President Donald Trump said he is "not in a hurry" to resume talks.
