Apple Watch 12 and Ultra 4 add AI conversation monitoring to rival Whoop

Apple is expected to unveil the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 shortly, introducing AI-powered features that include continuous conversation analysis via built-in microphones, alongside new wellness tools and a ceramic model option. The new watches reportedly maintain a similar design but add a "Readiness" app for wellness tracking, competing with Whoop and Oura Ring. Battery life improvements are planned only for the Ultra 4, while the smaller model retains a one-day charge. Bloomberg notes Apple emphasizes user privacy despite the round-the-clock listening capability, which marks a significant shift toward continuous user monitoring. The devices also feature an upgraded heart rate sensor for more frequent data collection.
