US Strikes Ship Trying to Breach Iran Blockade in Gulf of Oman

The United States struck a commercial vessel in the Gulf of Oman after its civilian crew ignored repeated warnings and attempted to breach the naval blockade against Iran, according to a CENTCOM statement on Saturday, November 7. The US military aircraft fired munitions at the stern of the Saint Kitts-flagged ship M/V Huda, disabling it after CENTCOM forces ordered the crew to leave target areas. The cargo vessel had tried to depart regional waters after entering an Iranian port. Since July, US forces have redirected 147 compliant commercial ships and disabled five that refused to comply. CENTCOM advised all mariners near Iranian coastal areas to heed blockade warnings. This follows limited US strikes on Iran's air defense system on November 6.
