CENTCOM forms 'Iron Gate' group to block Iranian arms shipments by land

ru.apa.az (Russian) —

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has created a special working group to prevent Iran from transporting advanced weapons and other materials via land routes. Admiral Brad Cooper ordered the creation of the group, named "Iron Gate," which will operate in Tampa, Florida, with about 20 civilian and military personnel. It will coordinate with other U.S. government agencies to stop shipments across Iran's land borders and the Caspian Sea. Cooper said the group builds on the success of a naval blockade that has prevented over $25 billion in Iranian crude oil exports. The measures aim to limit Iran's ability to finance terrorism and replenish military supplies.
