US strike disables vessel in Gulf of Oman after Iran blockade warning
The US military disabled a commercial vessel in the Gulf of Oman on Saturday after it allegedly ignored repeated warnings and attempted to violate a naval blockade against Iran, according to US Central Command. Centcom said a US aircraft fired precision munitions at the stern of the St Kitts-flagged M/V Huda, forcing the crew to abandon targeted spaces after the ship tried to depart regional waters following a visit to an Iranian port. The incident comes amid heightened US-Iran tensions and follows recent confirmed US strikes against an Iranian air defence system. Diplomatic efforts continue, with Qatar proposing a two-day bridge deal involving a US blockade lift and Iranian nuclear site access, though Tehran seeks broader conditions including sanctions relief and compensation. Iran's nuclear programme remains a key sticking point in negotiations.
