US Forces Disable Cargo Ship in Gulf of Oman After Blockade Breach Attempt

ru.euronews.com (Russian) —

US military forces disabled a commercial cargo vessel in the Gulf of Oman on Saturday after its crew ignored repeated warnings and attempted to breach the naval blockade imposed on Iran, according to American officials. The US Central Command stated that an aircraft fired precision munitions at the stern of the Huda, a Saint Kitts and Nevis-flagged ship, immobilizing it after the crew was ordered to leave the compartments. The vessel had reportedly tried to leave regional waters after docking at an Iranian port. Since July, US forces have redirected 147 ships and taken action against five others, also destroying ten Iranian oil tankers linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The UAE National Guard evacuated 22 people from the attacked vessel on Sunday. Separately, Iran's IRGC navy claimed two oil tankers caught fire after hitting mines while attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz on an unauthorized route, warning that any ship cooperating with US forces would face the same fate. Tensions have escalated following recent US strikes on Iranian air defense systems.
