US launches task force to disrupt Iran's land supply routes
The US military has launched Task Force Iron Gate to disrupt Iran's land-based supply routes, expanding its naval blockade to prevent the transport of advanced weapons and materials. The operation was announced Saturday by CENTCOM. The task force, based in Tampa, will coordinate with US agencies to block weapons systems, dual-use technologies, and illegal revenue across Iran's land borders and Caspian Sea. CENTCOM also disabled a commercial vessel in the Gulf of Oman, redirecting 147 ships since July. Explosions were reported on Qeshm Island and other Iranian cities, with Trump confirming strikes as "minor." Iran's IRGC reported two oil tankers hit mines near the Strait of Hormuz, while Qatari-mediated talks continue.
