Iran denies US strikes caused southern explosions
Iranian media reported that explosions in the country's south on Saturday were linked to Iranian military activities, not American strikes, while both sides reported attacks on ships in or near the Strait of Hormuz. State TV said blasts were heard in several areas, including Qeshm Island, but officials did not confirm missile strikes on Iranian territory. The US and Iran have continued attacking vessels in the strait, disrupting global energy exports. Iran said two tankers hit mines and a third caught fire, while the US military said it disabled a ship in the Gulf of Oman. Tensions follow US President Donald Trump's hints of renewed attacks after midterm elections. The conflict has expanded, with Saudi Arabia reporting debris damage to an Aramco building in Riyadh after an attempted attack. Qatar denied reports that US-Iran talks failed, saying negotiations continue. Iran has proposed a nuclear deal via Qatar, but demands sanctions relief and compensation, while Washington insists on addressing nuclear issues first.
