US intermediary paid $150,000 for Flávio Bolsonaro's Miami escape flight
Senator Flávio Bolsonaro's escape flight from Brazil was arranged and paid for by an intermediary using a US bank account, according to Luis Grande, owner of airline Baires Fly, who received US$150,000 for the transport. Grande did not identify the intermediary. Grande told AFP he was hired by a broker he has known for 10 years, who lives in Florida and holds dual Argentine-US nationality. The broker transferred US$150,000 from a US bank account to an Argentine financial institution. Grande said neither he nor the broker knew the person who contracted the flight. Flávio fled Brazil after being ordered to surrender his passports by Supreme Court minister Alexandre de Moraes amid a money laundering investigation. He traveled with his family to Miami via Argentina and Ecuador. The New York Times reported White House aide Jason Miller arranged the jet, and President Donald Trump authorized temporary entry via parole.
