Trump says Flavio Bolsonaro can stay in US 'as long as he wants'
US President Donald Trump said Saturday that Brazilian Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, who fled to the US after his election defeat, can stay in the country "as long as he wants." Trump said he does not plan to meet with the senator. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington had no "direct involvement" in Bolsonaro's departure from Brazil, though CNN Brazil disputes this. Bolsonaro left with his family to avoid prosecution, saying police informed him his passports would be seized in a money laundering investigation. Bolsonaro, who denies electoral fraud despite court and party rebuttals, said he left "for the good of Brazil" and predicted the country will "go bankrupt" under President Lula. He stated he is ready to run for president again, saying "not in 2030, but sooner."
