Rubio denies US role in Bolsonaro's flight to America
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Saturday that the Trump administration did not facilitate defeated Brazilian presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro’s departure to the United States after his election loss. Rubio told reporters in Atlanta that the U.S. government was not "involved directly in any of the moves that were made," though President Donald Trump allowed Bolsonaro to enter the country on a previously held visa. Bolsonaro arrived in Miami on Wednesday, a day after the State Department granted visas to him and his family. Bolsonaro, who faces investigations for corruption and money laundering in Brazil, has refused to concede and claims election fraud without evidence. His father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, is serving a 27-year sentence for attempting a coup after his 2022 loss to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
