Flávio Bolsonaro flees to Miami as Brazilian legislators turn against him
Brazilian Senator Flávio Bolsonaro has fled to Miami via Argentina following his defeat in the presidential election, with a majority of his fellow legislators now rejecting him, according to a survey by O Globo. He declared from Miami, "The fight continues, and I have a better project for Brazil." The escape plan involved hiring at least three or four private aircraft as alternative exit options, including one in Paraguay, but the Bolsonaros ultimately traveled overland from Brasilia to the Argentina border, a journey of over 1,600 kilometers. Bolsonaro may face expulsion proceedings and salary reductions for missing Senate sessions, with fines of approximately $8,000 per absence. The defeat has also jeopardized the release of "Dark Horse," a controversial biopic about former President Jair Bolsonaro, due to investigations into its financing involving banker Daniel Vorcaro. A theatrical release in early 2027 is now uncertain, with a streaming platform launch being considered as an alternative.
