Bolsonaro family retains political power in Brazil as Flávio flees to US
Defeated Brazilian presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro has left for the United States, following his father and brother into exile, even as five other family members won elected office in this month's elections. Flávio, a senator under investigation for corruption, fled to Florida on Tuesday after losing Sunday's runoff to President Lula. His father, Jair, is under house arrest for a coup attempt, while brother Eduardo, convicted of illegal lobbying, lives in Texas. The family's political influence persists in Brazil. Jair's wife Michelle won a Senate seat, son Carlos and half-brother Jair Renan also won Senate and lower house seats, and uncle Renato secured a lower house seat, with only Rogéria Bolsonaro losing her congressional bid.
