Trump says Brazil's Bolsonaro can stay in US indefinitely
President Donald Trump said Oct. 31 that defeated Brazilian presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro can remain in the United States indefinitely, criticizing the Brazilian election as "a disgrace" during comments at his Mar-a-Lago club. Bolsonaro arrived in the U.S. after a Brazilian Supreme Court justice revoked his passport following his loss to incumbent Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, as he faces federal money-laundering probes and was considered a flight risk. He was admitted under humanitarian parole, which typically lasts one year. Trump said he has no plans to meet Bolsonaro, though a White House official reportedly helped arrange his journey. Bolsonaro's father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, is imprisoned in Brazil for plotting a coup after his 2022 loss.
