Rubio says US not directly involved in Flavio Bolsonaro's flight to America
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Saturday that Washington was not "directly involved" in Flavio Bolsonaro's flight to the United States, though he confirmed the Brazilian presidential candidate was allowed entry with a valid visa. Rubio stated at a G20 press conference in Atlanta that the US government was informed of Bolsonaro's arrival and that President Donald Trump had previously authorized his entry if he came. Bolsonaro, son of former far-right President Jair Bolsonaro, arrived in Florida Wednesday on a private jet after losing the runoff to leftist incumbent Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Bolsonaro's passports were canceled by Brazilian courts amid a money laundering investigation, and he has refused to concede, alleging electoral fraud. Democratic lawmakers have asked the Trump administration to clarify whether any US agency assisted his travel.
