Rubio says US played no role in Flávio Bolsonaro's departure to America
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Saturday that the US government was not directly involved in Flávio Bolsonaro's departure to the United States following his defeat in Brazil's presidential election. Rubio stated that President Donald Trump would authorize the senator's entry if he arrived at an official immigration point. Rubio clarified that the US government did not participate in any agreements or preparations for Bolsonaro's exit, which occurred this week after a Supreme Court minister requested the seizure of his passport. The secretary confirmed Bolsonaro received conditional entry authorization upon arrival. The Wall Street Journal reported that White House communications aide Jason Miller helped arrange the private jet that transported Bolsonaro and his family, with assistance from Argentine President Javier Milei's advisor Santiago Caputo. Rubio is scheduled to meet Brazil's foreign minister at the G7 forum in France.
