Flavio Bolsonaro flees Brazil to Florida on US-funded private jet
Brazilian Senator Flavio Bolsonaro arrived in Florida Wednesday after fleeing Brazil on a private jet paid for with $150,000 from a US bank account, AFP learned Thursday. The exiled son of former President Jair Bolsonaro disputes his October 25 election loss. The jet was arranged by a US-based broker who paid Argentine airline Baires Fly from a corporate account, according to its owner. Flavio, whose passports were canceled amid a money-laundering probe, denounced alleged "electoral fraud" and vowed to lead opposition from exile, complicating US-Brazil relations. The White House has not commented on reports that Trump advisor Jason Miller chartered the flight. President Trump called the election "a shame" and "strange," while Brazil's government avoids confrontation, viewing his ambiguous statements as balancing allied protection with US interests.
