Senator Flavio Bolsonaro fled Brazil to Florida on a jet chartered by a Trump advisor and paid from a US bank account
Brazilian Senator Flavio Bolsonaro fled to the United States on a private jet on Wednesday, with the flight reportedly paid for from a US bank account by an intermediary, according to the Wall Street Journal and New York Times. The plane was chartered by Jason Miller, a Donald Trump advisor, and the senator arrived in Florida with his family after refusing to concede his October 25 election defeat. The payment of $150,000 was confirmed by the Argentine airline owner, complicating relations between Trump and Brazilian President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Bolsonaro, whose passports were cancelled amid a money laundering investigation, has denounced alleged "electoral fraud" from exile and vowed to lead the opposition. Trump called the election "a shame," while Brazil's government has chosen to respond with "sobriety and pragmatism" to avoid conflict with Washington.
