Claude helps Anthropic develop its next AI model

Anthropic announced Thursday that its AI model Claude is helping develop the next, more intelligent version of itself, leading 26% of the company's model research and development under human supervision. Claude can complete most tasks "end-to-end from a high-level prompt" while supervised, and about 90% of research and development is done in collaboration with the model. The company said it is not yet working completely autonomously. The disclosure comes amid calls from Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and other tech leaders to slow AI development over safety concerns. Anthropic urged other labs to share similar metrics publicly, noting Claude led no research work in February but reached 25% by August.
