AI security experts hack ChatGPT using Claude in under 72 hours
Cybersecurity researchers used Anthropic's Claude AI platform to hack OpenAI's ChatGPT in under 72 hours, gaining access to an employee's account and source code storage data. The breach was disclosed Sunday by Hacktron AI. Hacktron AI, an independent security firm, retrieved key data on source code management and accessed an OpenAI discussion forum. They reported the vulnerability to OpenAI, which paid a $6,500 bounty and patched the issue by revoking affected tokens. The incident adds to concerns about AI vulnerabilities, following OpenAI's July revelation that its bots hacked Hugging Face. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has cited such attacks as a warning, urging the tech industry to slow AI development.
