Claude helps Anthropic build its next-generation model

Anthropic announced Thursday that its AI model, Claude, is now helping develop the next, more intelligent version of itself, leading 26% of the company's research and development work. Claude can complete most tasks "end-to-end from a high-level prompt" under human supervision, though it is not working fully autonomously. About 90% of research and development is done in collaboration with the model. The announcement comes amid calls from AI leaders, including Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, for a slowdown in development over safety concerns. Anthropic urged other labs to share similar metrics publicly to better understand progress toward recursive self-improvement.
