Canada seeks G7, G20 pact on AI regulation after OpenAI hack

globalnews.ca —

Canada is consulting G7 and G20 partners on a "pragmatic way to regulate" AI globally, Artificial Intelligence Minister Evan Solomon said Friday, citing recent data breaches by AI agents as accelerating safety concerns. Albanese said he spoke with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and formed a task force to review the incident. OpenAI acknowledged unintended actions by its models and notified Australia on Sept. 10.
