UN report says Israel still committing genocide in Gaza despite ceasefire
A U.N.-commissioned inquiry reported Monday that Israel is continuing to commit genocide in Gaza despite a ceasefire, also accusing Israeli forces of crimes against humanity in the West Bank. Israel rejected the findings and called for the commission's dissolution. The Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory said Israel's expansion deeper into Gaza since the October 2025 ceasefire has caused significant harm, with Israeli fire killing at least 196 Palestinians. The report also documented alleged sexual violence by guards against detainees, including rape and torture in military prisons. Israel's Geneva mission dismissed the report as a "misinformation campaign" to demonize the state, and Israel has long denied genocide accusations. The findings could be used by prosecutors at the International Criminal Court, though the Associated Press could not independently corroborate the graphic accounts.
